The Sotogrande Port is also known as Sotogrande Marina, (El Puerto Deportivo de Sotogrande), and is situated 16 km notheast of Gibraltar. As yachts leave the Atlantic Ocean, the Sotogrande marina is one of the first ports of call of the Mediterranean. There is a sailing school for Optimist, Cadet and Catamaran yachts here and a windsurf, waterski and canoe school.
Development of the port of Sotogrande began in the 1960s and is now a large community of shops, boutiques, businesses, bars and very good restaurants. Sotogrande marina is often referred to by locals as "Little Venice", due to its canal. Another neat thing, as with Puerto Banus, is that boating residents can moor their craft right outside their property.
