The Marbella Feria, La Feria de San Bernabé is one of Marbella's most fun and colourful annual events, with a whole week of dancing and partying on the streets of the Marbella Old Town.

The week of the Feria in Marbella is determined by 11th June, Dia de San Bernabé, (Saint Bernabé is the patron saint of Marbella). The Feria is held on the first or second week of June depending on how the week nestles the 11th June. In 2007 the Marbella Feria was held from 5th to 11th June.

The official start is a Sunday and the last day of the Marbella Feria is usually the following Sunday, but the real fun starts with fireworks at 11:30 PM on the monday night, on Venus Beach (aka El Fuerte beach). People start to arrive at Venus Beach at about 10:00 PM to find a good spot to watch the display. Then for the rest of the week it's party time!

The partying starts late morning on the tuesday and continues every day until the following sunday, almost a whole week where every plaza and corner of Marbella's old town are set up with marquees, known as casetas, which sell all sorts of Andalusian tapas and every kind of drink. Partying lasts all day and late into the night and sometimes until dawn. Some people dress up in traditional flamenco costumes and others ride horses around the old town, but most people just come as themselves.

There are many other events during the Marbella Feria, such as bullfights, cultural entertainment, famous singers, rock groups, bands and orchestras, parades and processions for Saint Bernabé, feria queen election, flamenco shows, balls and dancing cometitions, art displays, children's entertainment... Almost all shows are free but some do charge a small fee. You can find out what's going on at any particular day by visiting the tourist office in Orange Square.
