Besides the challenge and fun of it all, the purpose of the day is to raise big bucks for charity. Combined donations, raffle tickets, tombola and race entry fees means that a large group of underprivileged children on the southern coast here in Spain can afford things like outings to aqua park, decent birthday parties and a proper Christmas. The day to day things that help to make a childhood more of an agreeable experience. For some of us giving happens mostly on this Sunday in September, so make the day count. Give more than usual and know that by doing so you will be making this most nobel and fun cause possible.
