Overlooking Marbella is the magnificent La Concha Mountain, The Shell Mountain. This is a classic shot of Mt Concha taken in 1968, during the constuction of Puerto Banus. La Concha is Marbella's most distinguishing icon and is most striking when seen from Puerto Banus.
Mt Concha is 1215 meters high and marks the western end of the Sierra Blanca mountain range. To climb Mt Concha the best place to start from is Refugio de Juanar. If you are fit, it will take 5 hours to travel the 11 kilometers to the summit of La Concha and back to Refugio de Juanar.
It's not an easy climb but at the top of La Concha is a sign post sign that reads, El Correo, The Mail, or Post Office, lol.
